Windsocks are used to tell wind speed and the direction of the wind speed itself. Windsocks typically are used at airports to indicate the direction and strength of the wind to pilots and at chemical plants and oil fields where there is risk of gaseous leakage. Windsocks are also sometimes located alongside highways at windy locations. At many airports, windsocks are lit at night, either by floodlights on top surrounding it or with one mounted on the pole shining inside it. Wind direction is the opposite of the direction in which the windsock is pointing Wind speed is indicated by the windsock's angle relative to the mounting pole; in low winds, the windsock droops; in high winds it flies horizontally.
These Aerosock Brand Windsocks are made of premium durable nylon cloth. Treated with a water repellent and a UV inhibitor, nylon is fade-resistant and retains its color over time. Nylon offers windsock durability to outside elements and will not become rigid in cold, hot, or wet weather, always keeping the windsocks responsive. Often referred to as a “Canadian Windsock,” the red-white-red design makes it visible on a sunny day or gray sky.The windsocks have a double stitch in every seam with weather resistant nylon thread. A 400 lbs. tensile strength webbing is added in the throat for reinforcement, and the brass grommets are evenly spaced, allowing for the standard lace-on or tie wrap method of attachment. Tie wraps (included) are used to secure the mouth of the windsock to its metal swivel frame or basket (not included)..
